If you’re on the hunt for charming, off-the-beaten-path things to do in Plant City, Florida, let me tell you about one of my absolute favorite spots—Cow Creek Farm. Whether you’re a local looking for a weekend adventure or visiting and want something unique to do, this place is a must-see.

Plant City, Florida

Plant City, Florida, is a hidden gem that offers a wide range of attractions and activities for visitors of all ages. From the beautiful parks and green spaces to the exciting events and festivals, there’s something for everyone in this charming town. One of the top attractions in Plant City is the Florida Strawberry Festival, which celebrates the town’s famous strawberry harvest with concerts, rides, and delicious food. Visitors can also explore the town’s many parks, including McIntosh Preserve and Edward Medard Conservation Park, which offer hiking trails, bird-watching, and opportunities to spot animals. For those looking for a unique experience, Cow Creek Farm is a must-visit, with its scenic venue, Scottish Highland cattle, and variety of events and activities. Whether you’re interested in nature, food, or family-friendly fun, Plant City has something to offer.

So, what is Cow Creek Farm all about?

Just a short drive from downtown Plant City, Cow Creek Farm was established in 2015 and offers family-friendly, hour-long tours that are as adorable as they are educational. The farm takes great care in ensuring the well-being of their Scottish Highland cattle, creating a nurturing environment for both animals and guests. The big draw? You get up close and personal with some of the cutest animals you’ve ever seen—including the internet’s favorite cows: Scottish Highlands. Yes, they’re even fluffier in person.

What to Expect on the Tour

The tour kicks off with a warm welcome from Radar, their rescued Mustang horse. You’ll get a quick intro into wild horse conservation and learn how places like Cow Creek Farm give horses like Radar a second chance. Fun fact: Mustangs are actually protected by the U.S. government, but can be adopted by farms like this one to ensure they live happy, healthy lives.

From there, we met Churro—an impossibly cute miniature Sicilian donkey with a personality to match. Donkeys like Churro are more than just adorable; they’re actually known for being great protectors of livestock. Their bray is loud enough to scare off predators, and if that doesn’t work, they’re not afraid to throw down with a coyote. Who knew?

Next up were the alpacas (yes, they might spit—don’t say I didn’t warn you!) and some super friendly goats that love being pet and fed. It’s the kind of hands-on experience that’s perfect for kids and animal lovers alike.

But the real stars of the show? The Scottish Highland cattle. We met some of the farm’s sweet calves before hopping on a tractor ride out to meet the big guys and gals. Feeding time with the grown cattle was such a cool experience—they knew exactly what was up and came trotting over with their big, fluffy heads and super slobbery tongues ready for snacks. We even got to see Rusty, a newborn Highland calf who had just been born that morning! Cutest thing ever.

Don’t Skip the Gift Shop!

Before you head out, make sure to stop by the farm’s gift shop. It’s filled with all sorts of goodies—especially if you’ve fallen in love with those shaggy Highland cows. From stickers to mugs to plushies, it’s the perfect place to grab a keepsake of your day!
