About
Welcome to Mostly Solo Travel!
Do you want to travel solo but have no idea where it’s safe to go or don’t know where to start planning? Like you, I once had anxiety about solo travel and was overwhelmed by the thought of planning a solo trip.
Hi, I’m Lori, the Chief Travel Officer for Mostly Solo Travel! I created this site for solo (and would-be solo) female travelers. My goal is to inspire your trips, give you practical advice on how to plan, and to ease your fears so you can explore the world on your own.
In 2006, I applied for a job at a travel magazine in Florida. While I was living in New Jersey. To my surprise, they flew me down for an interview, I got the job, and my journey as a solo female traveler began as I went solo to foreign countries to write and photograph stories for the magazine.
I’ve been to 34+ countries, most of them solo, hence the name of this site. I’ve got to Africa, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar alone. I’ve snowmobiled atop a glacier in Iceland, I’ve surfed in Hawaii, and I’ve snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef. Was I anxious? At times. And at times even I still get travel anxiety! But amazing adventures exist just outside your comfort zone.
Before you hit the road and start enjoying those solo adventures, be sure to join my weekly newsletter where I share solo tips and tricks and postcards from the road!
