With its luxurious safari “tents”, complete with private bathrooms, Acacia Central Camp is truly a delightful glamping experience in the heart of the Serengeti! I stayed there for two nights while on safari and would have loved to stay even longer!

How to Get to Acacia Central Camp

There are two ways to reach Acacia Central Camp. You can fly into Arusha Airport (ARK) and drive, which takes about 6-7 hours. Keep in mind that you’ll be driving through the Serengeti, so there is much to see along the way, but it’s still a long drive. The faster way is to fly into the Seronera airstrip (SEU) and take a short drive to Acacia Central Camp.

Rooms at Acacia Central Camp

The tents at Acacia Central Camp are spacious. Like, ridiculously spacious! You’ve got a four-poster King bed (that’s really high off the ground), a large sitting area, a vanity, a writing desk, a massive amount of closet storage space, and a large bathroom with a shower and a soaking tub. In the middle of the Serengeti! The floors are hardwood and the real wood furniture gives the room a nostalgic feel without being dated.

And unlike the tented accommodations at Lake Manyara, these tents have actual doors that lock! Acacia Central Camp truly put the glam in my glamping experience! Like many other accommodations in the Serengeti, the staff walks you to the room after dark out of an abundance of caution due to the wildlife.

My room was clean and well-maintained and had thoughtful touches like a power strip on the nightstand to make charging electronics easy. I was traveling solo and in a hilarious comedy of errors there was a banner over the bed in my room wishing me a happy honeymoon. It cracked me up every time I walked into the room, so I didn’t say anything about it to the staff, but if I had, I’m sure it would have been quickly removed.

Resort Amenities

As previously mentioned, there was a power strip on the nightstand in my room, which was incredibly convenient for charging electronics. Drinking water was provided in the room and in addition to the large shower, there was a soaking tub. WiFi is available in the common area (the lounge and restaurant). Laundry service is available for an additional fee.

Dining at African Acacia Central Camp

Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style. Breakfast was standard fare and dinner included a lot of traditional, local dishes. The service was excellent and the staff even celebrated a guest’s birthday with a local song and cake. Alcoholic beverages and sodas are extra and while I didn’t have any alcoholic drinks, I found the prices for soda to be quite reasonable, especially considering the location!

Price

Rates start around $375 per night, depending on the season. Breakfast is included.

If you like it, put a pin on it!
