<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I recently stayed at the St. Regis Florence to celebrate a milestone birthday, and if you’re looking for a truly luxurious place to stay in Florence, it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful setting.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Housed in a historic palazzo overlooking the Arno River, the St. Regis combines old-world Florentine elegance with modern luxury. And yes, the property is every bit as gorgeous as you’d expect from the photos.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But is the St. Regis Florence worth the splurge? And what is it actually like to stay there?</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After my stay, I’m sharing my honest take on the rooms (beautiful), location (ideal), service (top notch), amenities (thoughtful), and the little things I think you should know before booking.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Florence is easily accessible by air, train, or car. The nearest airport, Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR), is about a 20-minute drive from the hotel. If you’re arriving by train, Florence Santa Maria Novella (SMN) railway station is just a 10-minute walk or a short taxi ride away.</p>

I spent half a day here, and it wasn’t nearly enough time!</li>



<li><a href="https://tripadvisor.tpx.li/LDBOVNee"><strong>Duomo di Firenze</strong></a>: <strong>15-minute walk.</strong> This breathtaking cathedral, with its famous dome designed by Brunelleschi, is one of Florence’s most iconic landmarks. It’s surrounded by shops and cafes, and while I didn’t climb the dome, I spent hours wandering the nearby streets and taking in the architecture.</li>



<li><a href="https://tripadvisor.tpx.li/5tPok1oL"><strong>Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens</strong></a>: <strong>20-minute walk.</strong> A former palace turned museum with stunning gardens perfect for an afternoon stroll. My visit to Florence was a rainy one, so this is on my bucket list for my next trip!</li>

<h2 id="h-room-types" class="wp-block-heading"><br>My Room at the St. Regis Florence</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I stayed in room 106, which is considered a Premium Larger Guest Room, and when I tell you this room was massive, it was massive! From the second I put my key (complete with tasseled keychain) in the lock, I was blown away. The vintage-style keychain is bulky, but fear not, the desk will hold your key while you’re out exploring the sights.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I walked in the door to a foyer—yes, a hotel room with a foyer. To the right was a walk-in closet bigger than most New York apartments. Once I moved from the foyer into the main part of the room, there was a large seating area (where a bottle of local vino awaited me—this was a celebratory trip, after all!).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Then I got my first look at the main part of the room, and my jaw dropped. From the fabric-draped headboard to the dripping-in-crystal chandelier to the elegant furniture, clearly no detail had been overlooked! Then there was the marble bathroom, complete with a soaking tub that was calling my name after a long day of travel.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Of course, I had to check out the view, and to my surprise, the windows actually opened fully—something I’m not used to at most hotels. I had a lovely view of a peaceful street that clearly went to bed earlier than I did because when I tell you it was quiet, it was <em>so</em> quiet!</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After ordering room service (my late arrival had me tired and hungry), I slept like Italian royalty on the luxurious sheets and found myself never wanting to leave.</p>

<h2 id="h-butler-service-amp-concierge" class="wp-block-heading"><br>St. Regis Florence Butler Service &; Concierge</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Another thing that had me contemplating selling a kidney to stay forever was the St. Regis Butler Service.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Before my stay, my butler Lucrezia, contacted me via email to get my preferences and find out if I was celebrating anything special during my trip. We also discussed transportation options for getting to the hotel.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When I checked in, I was introduced to my butler, who whisked me (and my luggage) up to my room. I was given a room tour and a rundown of the available butler services, and then my butler offered to unpack for me!</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Now, maybe some people are used to this level of service, but I am not! However, because I had arrived late in the evening, I really just wanted food and a bed, so I declined.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Because of the historic nature of the hotel, there are no in-room coffee makers or tea kettles. However, the St. Regis offers complimentary morning coffee or tea delivery, complete with a newspaper and weather forecast.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And honestly, the tea tray my butler brought me the next morning put your standard hotel coffee setup to shame!</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I didn&#8217;t take advantage of many of the other services the butlers offered, like garment pressing, shoe shining, or organizing reservations and tickets. But it was nice to know that the service was available if I needed it.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Breakfast at Balconata</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The only meal I had at the St. Regis Florence was breakfast at Balconata, so that’s the dining experience I can actually review firsthand.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And what a way to start the day!</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">First of all, Balconata itself is stunning. It’s set on the second-level balcony (hence the name) overlooking what appears to be an old ballroom. With its stunning stained-glass ceiling, it’s a much more elevated breakfast experience than you’ll find at most hotels.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The food itself was plentiful and delicious. From standards like freshly prepared omelettes to local meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, and Italian pastries, I left there stuffed, satiated, and very happy to be walking it off around the city of Florence!</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The service was attentive and impeccable, and the staff even gifted me a purse hook so I could hang my bag discreetly off the table. And I do mean gifted—it wasn’t just a loaner for use during the meal. It was a St. Regis-branded purse hook packaged in a small gift box.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I still keep it in my bag today, and it comes in handy quite often. It’s such a small detail, but it’s one of those little touches that made the St. Regis experience feel special.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As a Marriott Platinum member, the breakfast buffet was included for me. The meal costs €52 per person, and for me, I would happily pay that price for the breakfast I enjoyed at Balconata.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you’re staying at the St. Regis Florence, breakfast is definitely something I’d consider adding to your stay, especially if you enjoy lingering over a leisurely hotel breakfast before heading out to explore Florence.</p>

<h2 id="h-amenities" class="wp-block-heading">Other Things to Know About St. Regis Florence</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I actually used very few of the hotel’s amenities during my stay, but the ones I did use worked exactly as I needed them to.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>24-hour room service:</strong> After arriving late in the evening, I ordered room service rather than heading back out into Florence in search of dinner. It was exactly what I needed after a long travel day.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Complimentary Wi-Fi:</strong> The Wi-Fi worked well during my stay, although I didn&#8217;t put it through any particularly demanding tests.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The St. Regis Florence also offers <strong>valet parking, pet-friendly accommodations, and business and meeting facilities</strong>, although I didn’t personally use any of these.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For me, the standout amenities weren&#8217;t really the traditional hotel amenities—they were the <strong>butler service, morning coffee and tea delivery, and the little touches that made the stay feel special.</strong></p>

<h2 id="h-cost-to-stay-at-the-st-regis-florence" class="wp-block-heading"><br>How Much Does the St. Regis Florence Cost?</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: how much does a stay at an amazing property like this cost?</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For context, I traveled to Florence in February, which is considered low season, and I booked the hotel’s most basic room, a Deluxe Guest Room. I had Marriott Bonvoy points to burn, so I booked it for 79,000 points per night plus €8 in taxes. The cash price for the room was €639 per night (approximately $725 at the time).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Thanks to my Marriott status, I was upgraded one level to a Premium Larger Guest Room, which was priced at €728 per night.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And that&#8217;s just the beginning. During my stay, I saw the following prices for some of the hotel&#8217;s other room categories:</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Important:</strong> These are the prices I saw during my February stay, not current rates. Hotel prices can vary significantly depending on your dates, room category, availability, and season, with peak summer months generally costing more.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You’re definitely not looking at a budget vacation here. However, the entry-level rooms provide a significantly more affordable way to experience the St. Regis Florence than booking one of the hotel&#8217;s enormous suites.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And if you&#8217;re willing to splash out €13,720 a night, go for it! And call me—I’ll gladly be your plus one!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is the St. Regis Florence Good for Solo Travelers?</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You might think such an upscale hotel would be unwelcoming to solo travelers. Well, I’m here to tell you that wasn’t my experience at all.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As a solo traveler, I found the service incredibly welcoming, and I was never made to feel uncomfortable or like I was any less of a valued guest because I was traveling alone. I also found having a butler to be a huge benefit when it came to answering any solo travel or safety questions I had.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For me, the hotel’s location was ideal. It sits between Florence’s busy historic center, with plenty of activity and restaurant choices, and the river area, which felt quieter and more peaceful. I never felt unsafe walking back to the hotel at night, and I was always warmly greeted by name by the staff when I returned.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The hotel definitely has major romantic vibes, but I never felt like I was intruding on anyone’s honeymoon (unlike when I was in Tahiti and the staff practically sneered at me for traveling alone!).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Of course, the price is on the steeper side when you don’t have anyone to split the room cost with. But if you’re a solo traveler looking for a splurge—or celebrating a milestone occasion like I was—I think the St. Regis Florence can be a fantastic choice.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is the St. Regis Florence Worth the Splurge?</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For me, the St. Regis Florence is the kind of hotel where you’re paying for more than a room. You’re paying for the historic setting, the service, the location, and the experience of staying somewhere that feels distinctly Florentine.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That doesn’t mean it’s the right choice for every trip to Florence. If you’re going to spend most of your days out exploring and just need a comfortable place to sleep, there are plenty of less expensive options that may make more sense.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But if the hotel is part of the experience you’re looking for—and you’re willing to splurge—the St. Regis Florence delivers the kind of stay that feels like an occasion.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For me, this was a milestone birthday trip, and the St. Regis felt like exactly the right place to celebrate. I loved the beautiful room, the over-the-top service, and all those little touches that made the stay feel special.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Would I pay St. Regis prices for every trip to Florence? Probably not. But for a special occasion or a trip where the hotel itself is part of the experience, I’d happily stay here again.</p>
