The Safer Travel Packing List

It’s a packing list with a twist! These are my favorite items that will help you travel safely, which can be particularly helpful for solo and female travelers.

This post may contain affiliate links, which means I’ll receive a commission if you purchase through my links, at no extra cost to you. Please read full disclosure for more information.

Hairbrush Travel Safe

Nothing beats a multitasker, especially when it comes to packing light for travel and this hairbrush travel safe is always at the top of my packing list! Just ensure that you’re packing this in your carryon bag if you’re got valuables stashed in it!

Hotel Door Lock

This hotel door lock comes with me on every trip! It’s slim and portable and I don’t always feel the need to use it depending on where I’m staying, but when I do, I’m always happy to have it in my bag.

Garmin In Reach

When I went solo hiking in Sedona the Garmin In Reach gave me valuable peace of mind that in case of emergency, I could reach out to friends or family even when I didn’t have cell service (it bounces around pretty badly in the canyons of Sedona and can be very hit or miss). While it does require a subscription, you can temporarily suspend it while you’re not traveling.

Nomad Insurance

Travel medical insurance is something you hope you never need, but when you do you’ll be glad to have Nomad Insurance. If an unexpected medical issue (including COVID-19) or accident happens while you’re traveling, you’ll have access to a qualified global network of hospitals and doctors. Coverage is also included for emergency medical evacuation and natural disasters.

Anti-Theft Crossbody Bag

Safe can also be cute! This Anti-Theft Crossbody Bag comes in a variety of colors (but who can say no to Barbie pink?) and has multiple pockets to securely stash your stuff whether you’re at home or on the road.

If you like it, put a pin on it!

Lori Barbely

Hi, I’m Lori, the Chief Travel Officer for Mostly Solo Travel! I created this site for solo (and would-be solo) female travelers. My goal is to inspire your trips, give you practical advice on how to plan, and to ease your fears so you can explore the world on your own.
