Opened in late 2024, St. Augustine’s Capybara Cafe is a fun new experience that lets you get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures!

For $49 you can spend 30 minutes feeding, learning about, petting, and snuggling Mocha, Latte and their two yet-to-be-named capybara friends! Occasionally their skunk friend named Flower will also make an appearance! The group sizes are kept small, with a maximum of six people, so the capys don’t get overwhelmed and so you’re sure to get ample time with these cuties!

The capybaras (and Flower) spend their days doing meet and greets, then head back to Noah’s Ark Sanctuary to spend their evenings doing capy things! Did you know they love to swim and their webbed feet help with that?

The idea for the Capybara Cafe came from the desire to bring conservation awareness to the community in a fun way. You’ll learn fun facts—like the fact that capybaras chew their food in a circular motion—while feeding these herbivores some of their favorite plant-based snacks!

There’s a snack bar and a small gift shop and while you wait for your session, you can enjoy guinea pigs (a close cousin of the capybara) and hamsters in the waiting area. I had so much fun and the 30 minutes flew by! I would highly recommend this experience and can’t wait to go back next time I’m in St. Augustine!
