<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With its old-school motel-style building and flamingo pink exterior, <a href="https://booking.tp.st/cbBAeV7i">The Local</a> gives big retro Florida vibes, which is what inspired me to stay there on a recent <a href="https://mostlysolotravel.com/christmas-in-st-augustine-florida/">trip to St. Augustine</a>. Did it live up to the hype? Read on to find out!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-to-get-to-the-local-st-augustine">How to Get to The Local St. Augustine</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fly into St. Augustine&#8217;s Northeast Florida Regional Airport (UST) or Jacksonville International Airport (JAX). The Local is just over an hour drive from Jacksonville International and about 15 minutes from Northeast Florida Regional Airport.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Local is just a 25-minute walk or a 5-minute drive to <a href="https://tripadvisor.tp.st/EoTBVb3a">Plaza de la Constitución</a> and <a href="https://tripadvisor.tp.st/dTRsqq4t">Castillo de San Marcos National Monument</a>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-rooms-at-the-local-st-augustine">Rooms at The Local St. Augustine</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There are just 20 rooms, ranging from single full to single king or double queen with a breakfast nook. A wheelchair-accessible single queen is available.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I stayed in a double full room (<em>above</em>). The Local definitely focused most of the aesthetic on the exterior of the hotel, but the pink and green tropical foliage wallpaper gave the room a touch of personality that you don&#8217;t typically find in hotels. Beyond that, it was a fairly standard room. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I only stayed one night, but the closet and the dresser provided ample storage. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The bathroom was on the small side and a bit dated looking, but the water was hot and the pressure was good, which are my main priorities.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re a light sleeper, bring earplugs and an eye mask. My room was next to the laundry and I could hear the machine running. I could also hear my upstairs neighbors quite a bit—it sounded like they were moving furniture! My room faced the street and the wood blinds didn&#8217;t do a great job at blocking out the light from the streetlight. I was able to sleep despite these issues, but someone who is a light sleeper may struggle. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-amenities-at-the-local">Amenities at The Local</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rooms at The Local are air-conditioned and have a microwave and mini fridge in them. While there is no coffee setup in the rooms, there is a coffee and tea station in the lobby.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">WiFi is available throughout the property. Parking is free and the motel is contactless. Check-in and check-out are done using an app, which also serves as your digital key.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There is an outdoor pool, bike rental is available directly in front of the motel, and The Local has partnered with a nearby fitness center to give guests complimentary gym access.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-price">Price</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rates start at $115 per night, depending on the season. Check-in is at 3 PM and check-out is at 11 AM. Early check-in and late check-out are available for an additional fee, subject to availability.</p>
